OmniVision releases 40MP smartphone sensor with 1.0 micron pixels, 256x gain and more

OmniVision has announced the details of the OV40A, a 40-megapixel image sensor designed to be paired with the next generation of smartphones. The 1/1.7" sensor is built on OmniVision's PureCel Plus-S stacked die technology, features 1.0 micron pixels and offers 'super high gain and de-noise technologies for the best-in-class low light camera performance' for its size.
